Self-hosted alternatives to hosted signage

If you already run one of these, you are not shopping for digital signage - you are asking whether the renewal is worth it, or whether the content can keep leaving the building. These pages answer that one product at a time.

Five questions, and where each answer pointsTwo of these send you somewhere else. A page that only says yes is a page nobody believes.Must the screens keep playing when the network drops?this, clearlyDoes the data have to stay inside the building?this, clearlyDo you need one alert to take every screen at once?this, clearlyDo you want somebody else to run and patch the server?not thisDo you need a 24/7 support desk with a contractual SLA?not thisAnswer the last two yes and a hosted product will serve you better. We would rather say that now than in month three.

How these are written

What you will not find on them

No prices for anybody else’s product. Every one of these vendors can change a price this afternoon, and a comparison page carrying last year’s number is worse than one carrying none - it is the first thing a reader can catch us on, and they will. Each page describes the shape of the billing, which vendors state themselves, and links to their own pricing for the figure.

No claims about what their software cannot do. We say what ours does and let you put the two beside each other. If a page here disagrees with something a vendor says about their own product, believe the vendor.

And a section on every page about when to stay where you are. If nobody in your organisation is willing to own a server, or you have three screens in one room, the honest answer is that a hosted platform is the better buy - and we would rather write that down than find it out together six weeks into a pilot.

Not sure which side of it you are on?

Tell us the screen count and where the content has to live, and we will tell you plainly whether this is the right fit, including when it is not.

No open demo, no sign-up wall, a person reads every request.
